From October 1st, 2025, HobbyLink Japan will be altering our cancellation policy and reducing the period of cancellation to reduce the impact of harmful cancellation activity and streamline the overall customer experience for all users of HLJ.
Change in Cancel Policy
- On October 1st 2025, the period after placing an order where items can be cancelled will be changed. You will no longer be able to cancel after the cut-off date, however you will still be able to cancel before the cut-off date.
- The cut-off date for pre-orders will be displayed to the customer on the product page and in the My Account page. For this reason, we politely ask all customers to be certain of their preorders before placing them. Cancellation will only be available during the product’s pre-order window.
- Until October 1st, 2025, orders can be cancelled the same as usual. After October 1st, the system will change, allowing cancellations only within the initial preorder window (usually 1 month between the preorder opening and closing).
- Once the product arrives and settlement for the product is made, the ownership of the product will be transferred from HLJ to the customer.
- We understand that this change in our cancellation policy may be inconvenient for some customers. We appreciate that cancellations outside of this policy will still be required in some unique instances, but as a general rule, we would like to ask customers to only place orders they would like to keep. Our Customer Service team is ready to assist with all queries regarding preorders, cancellation and more.
- Currently, items over 19,000 yen require the customer to contact the customer support team to cancel. After the new policy is implemented, this will no longer be the case, and all items will be able to be cancelled by the customer before the cut-off date.
Change in Backorder Policy
- From the point of policy change, the backorder system will also change to a new ‘notification system.’ The customer will no longer be able to place ‘backorder,’ or ‘out of stock’ orders but rather, sign up for notification of when products have changed to In Stock. This will give all customers an equal chance to obtain additional stock.
- Even after the policy change is made, currently held backorders and out of stock orders from before the policy change will still be able to be cancelled.
- After one year of operation, current existing backorders will be transitioned to the new notification system.
- For those signed up for the stock notification system, customers will be notified when the item arrives In Stock.
- Backorders more than 3 years old will be cancelled when the new policy is implemented on October 1st, 2025. Customers will be notified of upcoming cancellation.
We appreciate your continued support of HobbyLink Japan,
Kind regards,
HLJ Team
